Tindall Corporation’s South Carolina Division provided the precast concrete used to build the new Mustang Owner’s Museum located in Concord, North Carolina. This museum will provide a space in which Ford Mustang owners and car enthusiasts can celebrate the classic car brand.
“This project is unique in its purpose, and it was a pleasure to be part of the process in building such a specialized structure,” said David Britt, Vice President and General Manager of Tindall’s South Carolina Division. “We appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with the team at the museum to deliver a customized precast solution that Mustang fans will enjoy for generations to come.”
Led by Stefan Ely, Sales Engineer, and Jonathan Cochrane, Project Manager, the Tindall South Carolina team was tasked with completing the museum in an expedited timeline to ensure the museum would be ready to open for the public during its grand opening from Wednesday, April 17 through Saturday, April 20.
The Tindall team produced the owner’s desired vision for a customized aesthetic—the museum features architectural detailing at the front of the building with thermal-efficient insulated precast wall panels around the perimeter—one of the most challenging aspects of the project’s design.
The structure is over 45,000 square feet and includes a showroom floor for a rotating exhibit of classic Ford Mustangs. The building includes several precast components, such as insulated walls, columns and spandrels throughout the structure.
The general contractor for the project was D.R. Reynolds Company. Pinnacle Architecture provided design and Ruggles Engineering aided in structural consulting.
