Tindall Virginia Provides Precast Solutions for Chesterfield County Schools

Tindall Corporation’s Virginia Division will assist in the expansion of Matoaca and Manchester Middle Schools by providing a series of precast, prestressed concrete wall panels.

“These precast wall panels offer innovative and economical solutions at rapid speed and low cost, and our team always enjoys having the opportunity to demonstrate these skills in projects for our customers,” said Kevin Pratt, Project Manager at Tindall. “We are excited to see the final products for these Chesterfield County Schools.”

The Matoaca Middle School project will consist of a 38,000-square-foot free-standing addition to the east side of campus to better accommodate students located in the west section. The expansion includes 22 general classrooms, six science labs, and resource/storage rooms.

Manchester Middle School is demolishing its previous building and replacing it with a 139,000-square-foot structure. It will include over 40 general classrooms, science and tech labs, and flex spaces along with a full-size competition gymnasium, 600-seat auditorium, and 400-student capacity cafeteria.

The architectural wall panels will be manufactured with thin-set brick, pigmented concrete with sandblasted or acid-washed finish for a modern aesthetic. Matoaca has 45 panels with approximately 14,700-square-footage of precast panels, while Manchester has 264 panels with approximately 59,700-square-footage of panels.

Tindall is partnering with RRMM Architects for both projects, along with general contractor, Southwood Builder Systems, on Matoaca Middle School, set to be complete by mid-October of 2019. The Tindall team will be working with Kenbridge Construction as a general contractor on Manchester Middle School, which has an estimated completion date in July of 2020.
