Tindall Georgia Meets Challenging Projects With Precast Solutions

Tindall Corporation’s Georgia Division undertook three complex and challenging parking deck projects in 2018, including The Icon Buckhead Project and the Quartz Parking Deck, both in Atlanta, as well as the Milton Avenue Garage in Alpharetta.

“Tindall is grateful to continually provide the best possible solutions for our valued partners and customers throughout the Southeast,” said Rob Smith, VP & General Manager of Tindall’s Georgia Division. “We are thrilled to see how our projects contribute to overall regional infrastructure advancements and growth. Our team truly enjoys rising to the challenge and providing unique solutions.”

The Icon Buckhead Project
The Icon Buckhead Project for the Related Group is a two-bay, 10-level precast parking structure featuring an amenity area on the top level. The amenity space was an intricate build, including a pool, waterfall, fire pit and bars all centered around stunning views of the Atlanta skyline. The structure’s west elevation includes a two-toned architectural finish within each precast panel.

Tindall Georgia’s team along with Gilbane Construction, general contractor on the project, determined precast materials would best fit the project’s schedule and scope. The parking structure construction proved to be complicated and demanded detailed coordination to assure safety as the 35-story high rise build sits on a tight five acres and is situated in Buckhead, a highly populated area.

The project is expected to be turned over to The Related Group during the second quarter of 2019.

Quartz Parking Deck
The Quartz Parking Deck, adjacent to a new corporate headquarters in Doraville, includes intricate exterior elevations as well as multiple projections in the panels that create a unique architectural appearance. Additionally, tumbled thin brick required coordination between the manufacturer, Architect, and Tindall to deliver an “old world” feel for the parking deck, contributing to an overall aged, industrial look for the project.

DPR Construction was the project’s general contractor, and Rule, Joy, Trammel + Rubio, LLC, was the project’s architect. Architectural Polymers supplied the brick and form liner. Tindall Georgia finished precast erection in October, and the project is due to be completed in by the end of 2018.

Milton Avenue Garage
Tindall provided a parking facility with a retail area that is architecturally complimentary with the surrounding downtown area for the City of Alpharetta. The entire exterior was created utilizing load bearing brick-faced panels with cornices to mimic area architecture. The deck also features uniformly spaced openings to create a commercial building appearance instead of a traditional parking deck look.

The Christman Company was the general contractor, Walker Engineering served as the project’s engineering firm and the project architect was TreanorHL. The project is set to be completed in 2019.
